About New Zealand

New Zealand is an island country in the south-western Pacific Ocean. It comprises of two main islands, the North Island and the South Island. It is situated 2 000 kilometres southeast of Australia. New Zealand is a very modern and developed country in all areas. It has a very high quality of life and its cities are considered to be among the most liveable in the world. New Zealand combines modern and cosmopolitan cities with untouched nature with many plants and animals, that can’t be found anywhere else in the world. New Zealand’s original inhabitants, the Maori are an important minority and have a significant influence on culture and interesting traditions.

Costs

Study costs in New Zealand can be fairly high. Tuition fees range between 15 400 NZD to 23 800 NZD. English language certificate (which you will probably need) will cost you about 2 000 NZD. Accommodation costs are about 150 to 250 NZD a month. Public transport costs 90 NZD a month. Insurance for one semester costs 260 NZD. Other living expenses can be up to 100 NZD a week.

Student life

If you want to study in New Zealand you will need a student visa. You can apply for visa trough Immigration New Zealand (INZ), the visa costs 120 NZD. Students are permitted to work 20 hours a week during their studies. Successful graduates can gain a one year Graduate Job Search Work Permit, which allows them to work for a year after finishing their studies.
